Corner Tips | Crystal Palace v West Brom | 13th August 2016

RUSSELL Butterworth (@cornerkicktips) has picked out his best corners bet from the weekend football.

Crystal Palace v West Brom | Saturday 15:00

The Premier League finally returns this weekend and it would be rude not to dive straight in and try to identify a game that might provide a high corner count.

Only three of the 10 opening weekend fixtures feature two teams with the same manager who finished last season, and of those, it’s the game between Crystal Palace and West Brom that stands out.

Over the course of the season it was their away form that kept Palace out of relegation trouble but it was at Selhurst Park where their corner averages caught the eye.

No EPL team saw more home games feature over 10 corners (68%) or 11 or more (58%) than Palace last year and over the last eight games of the season they averaged 12.63, going over 11 corners in 6/8.

Despite losing three of their last four home games, West Brom ended the season in decent form on the road with only Arsenal and Man City beating them in their last seven away games. This resilience coincided with a surge in their corner numbers averaging 12.72 total corners, with over 11 corners in 5/7.

We are definitely looking at Palace to provide the majority of the corners in the game and they averaged seven team corners in their last eight home games, hitting 10 in three of their last four.

West Brom conceded an average of 8.25 corners over their last eight aways and the home team have hit seven and eight corners in the last two head-to-headss.

While it is a slight concern that West Brom hit under four corners in four of their last eight aways, over the course of the season they average 4.26 team corners on the road and with Palace conceding over four corners in eight of their last 12 home games, I’m hopeful that the Baggies can contribute their fair share here. They have hit over five in two of their last three visits.

We really are looking for West Brom to frustrate Palace to get the home corners going and if that is the case, the home team corners at even-money for over 6.5 and Race To Seven corners market at 11/10 both appeal.

However, I’m going to keep it simple and get on the Over 10 corners. This bet would have won in two of the last three meetings at Selhurst Park and looks a fair price at 4/5 with Bet365.
