Leicester cut in Premier League relegation betting again

Reigning English champions Leicester took another hit on the weekend in a defeat out on the road at Sunderland. As boss Claudio Ranieri has said, nothing is going right for them now and they are increasingly looking as if they are getting sucked into a potential relegation battle. The Foxes have won just one of their last nine Premier League games now, having collected just 13 points from 14 games this season in the top flight.

When they were relegated from the 2003/04 campaign, they had collected just two points fewer at this same stage of the season. So with the Foxes closer to relegation than they are retaining their title (21 points adrift of leaders Chelsea) the Foxes look as if they have to only be concerned about staying in the top flight. But their relegation odds tumbled again on the weekend to a price of 9/1 with Ladbrokes.

Just four weeks ago they were a massive 40/1 price at Ladbrokes in Premier League relegation odds and with a disappointing 1 point from their last three games, which were against some of the weaker sides they will face, they are in decline. The performances from key players Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, whose relationship was key to Leicester’s title success, just haven’t been there. Vardy hasn’t scored since early in September and while Mahrez has seven, he has relied on penalties to boost him up there.

But the Foxes have been going great guns in the UEFA Champions League, so that looks like more of a priority for them at the moment. They have produced a W4 D1 record from their five group stage games so far and have shipped just the one goal as well. Maybe when their European adventure heads to a break after the group stage, they will be able to focus better back the domestic front.
