PDC World Championship Odds – Darts Betting

The crowds will flock to Alexandra Palace again over Christmas with one question on their lips – can anybody stop Michael van Gerwen from regaining his PDC World Championship title?

The Flying Dutchman suffered a surprise third-round defeat to fellow countryman Raymond van Barneveld last year but has been all but unstoppable in 2016, winning 25 ranking tournaments with the most recent being the successful defence of his Players Championship Finals crown last month.

What places van Gerwen apart from others his ability to come back from seemingly impossible positions to win matches. It’s fair to say that former world number one Phil Taylor can still give him a game if the Dutchman is slightly below par and the same can probably be said of defending world champion Gary Anderson. Maybe you could just about make a case for Adrian Lewis at a general 33/1, though ‘Jackpot’ has shown little sign lately that he can maintain his best form over a prolonged period. The format of the World Championship just doesn’t allow for an off day!

Maybe there is just a glimmer of hope for van Gerwen’s rivals as he did struggle to beat Germany’s Rene Eidams in the first round last year before his early exit. But I couldn’t honestly back against him at the best 8/11 as I’m not sure Taylor has the stamina for this marathon any more. That said, Anderson won’t give up his crown easily and the Scot can be backed at 13/2 with bwin to triumph again. Skybet are offering 7/4 that any other players wins apart from van Gerwen and Anderson.

The only other to have attracted even minor interest in betting for the PDC World Championship is Peter Wright. He is now only a best 12/1 and it’s surely only a matter of time before he wins a big prize in front of the TV cameras. But it is hard to lok beyond the fact that Wright has lost his last 16 meetings with MVG so there must be a confidence factor.

PDC World Darts Championship Leading Players Current Best Odds
