Roy Keane slammed the Premier League giants after nine changes saw them struggle to a 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Champions League
Roy Keane has claimed the “arrogant” Manchester City squad is not as good as their manager Pep Guardiola thinks it is.
Aguero tells Iheanacho: Carry Man City while I’m banned
The former Manchester United midfielder’s comments came after Guardiola made nine changes to his team for Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Champions League.
With Champions League debutants Pablo Maffeo and Tosin Adarabioyo lining up in defence, City loanee Patrick Roberts opened the scoring against his parent club before young striker Kelechi Iheanacho quickly equalised.
Speaking as a pundit on ITV, Keane said: “Their squad probably isn’t as good as maybe Manchester City think or even the manager.
“Obviously they knew they were already through but they showed a lot of disrespect to Celtic and Celtic were the slightly better team and could have gone on to win.”
On City’s chances in the knockout stages of the competition, Keane added: “I think [they will struggle]. Particularly defensively.”
Roberts was named man of the match for his performance at the Etihad Stadium and Keane was impressed by the 19-year-old, though again pointed to City’s less-than-impressive strength in depth at the back.

Keane added: “He’s a good player [Patrick Roberts] and took full advantage of the opportunity.
“Having said that, I thought the defending from Manchester City was absolutely shocking. They showed a lot of arrogance towards the game last night and perhaps disrespect to Celtic.”
