Manchester City v Watford Betting Preview – Premier League 14th December
Manchester City have a lot of improving to do. They suffered another setback in their title ambitions on the weekend when they were taken down 4-2 by Leicester at the King Power. City’s home form is nothing to write home about either as they have failed to win any of their last four league games there. Will they snap that and beat the Hornets on Wednesday night? Watford are up into seventh in the table after a win over Everton on the weekend. Will they be the next in line to frustrate points out of the Citizens at the Etihad or will their own poor form on the road at the big guns continue?

Manchester City v Watford Betting Tips
Not a great time of things Manchester City are having at the moment. Across their last fifteen games in all competitions, City have taken just the five victories. Of their last nine Premier League games they have managed just the three wins and each of those were out on the road. So the Etihad hasn’t been happy hunting ground for them lately and they’ve gone just D3 L1 in their last four top flight home games. After scoring so freely in home games at the start of the season, the Citizens have scored exactly one in each of their last four home games. With defeats against Chelsea and then out at Leicester on the weekend, Manchester City have lost back to back games with seven goals conceded. For the first time in his managerial career Pep Guardiola has seen his side concede three or more goals in consecutive league games. The defence just isn’t there from City at the moment and both teams to score at Paddy Power in this one will return a price of 4/5 and with Watford scoring well enough, there’s value in that.
There is a price of 4/9 at Paddy Power in the game going over 2.5 goals and City will be leaning on Kelechi Iheanacho who 4/7 favourite in the anytime goalscorer market as Sergio Aguero continues to serve out his ban. Nolito and Kevin De Bruyne are even money options in the anytime goalscorer market. Manchester City do have some form against Watford having gone W2 D2 in their four previous Premier League games against them. City won both league meetings last season against Watford. Interestingly the seven goals that have been scored in this particular Premier League fixture have all happened after half time. Only once before in his managerial career has Guardiola lost three games in a row, which was in May last year with Bayern Munich. Manchester City have only gone W3 D3 L1 on home soil this season, but punters will be expecting them to bounce back sooner or later. Following this they will run into Arsenal in a game of huge importance in the title race.
The Hornets have not taken a win against City in any of their last six league meetings with them in a D2 L4 record. When they went to the Etihad last season they didn’t get a shot on target in a Man City 2-0 victory. Watford have found the back of the net in defeats against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool this season and so with the weaknesses that are there in City’s back line it is worth backing them to get on the scoresheet. Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are 10/3 options in the anytime goalscorer market. Interestingly, Watford have played nine Premier League matches on a Wednesday before and they have failed to win any of them in a D2 L7 record. Watford have lost their last two away games in the top flight and they have conceded nine goals in those two games as well. So in the correct score market a Man City 2-1 or Man City 3-1 have some appeal at 10/1 on either option. Watford have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last five Premier League games now.

Manchester City v Watford Predictions
Watford have been scoring against the top clubs this season, so it’s worth backing both teams to score. Manchester City have to come good sooner or later but their defence is still a huge issue for them. However they have the scoring power to get the better of Watford in this one, particularly with the Hornets struggling for clean sheets lately. Both teams to score and a home win looks on the cards.
